30 MINUTE THERAPY

Virtual Reality Therapy

I am now a certified practitioner and have enjoyed working through all the programs myself – for which I am so much more relaxed from these experiences, so can attest to its results – amazing!

This VRT is a fabulous tool that compliments my practice beautifully.

For clients wishing to undertake VRT I will be offering a no obligation assessment as to their suitability to the programs.  From these initial assessments you can be better informed about the process prior to committing to VRT programs, and I will have a more comprehensive understanding of your needs.

The initial no obligation assessment will take approximately 15-20 mins.

Most VRT sessions will be up to 90 mins.  Some of the VRT programs are up to approximately 50 minutes. The first part of the session will be in the preparation and initial discussions, then follow-up after the VRT program and any counselling time for the remainder of the session.  We may still have any required counselling sessions in-between and/or following the programs, and this will be assessed on an as needs basis.

Most people describe VRT as calming, and like reaching a deeply relaxed state, similar to hypnosis.  You will feel very relaxed after the session.  There may be some mild drowsiness, like waking from a nap.  This is normal and will pass in a few seconds.  You should then feel refreshed and invigorated throughout the day. Many clients have also reported that they sleep very soundly when they go to bed that night and feel energized the following day.

What is VRT?

This is very new technology which takes deep relaxation therapy, or guided imagery, to a whole new level.

It comprises of a head mounted display (yes like the virtual reality games you have seen or experienced) which provides audio and visual stimuli.

The client is removed from all external distractions when they are in this environment and they are then taken on an incredible journey through many different environments, during which time they reach a deeply relaxed state.

Each program / session has been studied and scrutinized by health care experts to optimize the efficacy of the program.  Each of the programs is a truly beautiful journey.

How Does VRT Work?

Virtual Reality Therapy communicates positive messages directly to the subconscious mind by evading the thinking part of the brain. In this deepened state of relaxation VRT can plant the seeds of a new set of beliefs and jump start the process of change from within. Properly nurtured and reinforced, these seeds can grow and create strong neural pathways to better lifestyle choices, self belief and more positive outlooks in your journey of life.

Over time VRT helps the sub-conscious mind to refocus.  New neural networks are developing in the mind which will eventually become stronger and help to make the changes the client seeks.  This is an ongoing process which will continue even after the client has left the session.  The new thought processes will continue to strengthen the new belief system.

Pathways to beliefs and thought patterns in the brain are much like a path in a forest.  Every time we access a particular thought pattern, we strengthen that pathway and it becomes easier to access.  If we introduce a new, alternative pathway and continue to walk along that path to that new thought pattern or belief, it will eventually become deeper and stronger.  The old path will begin to weaken and become overgrown and eventually replaced as the new dominant thought pattern or belief takes hold and strengthens.

What Can You Use VRT For?

VRT is used in a wide range of therapeutic applications. I have programs for anxiety, depression, coping strategies, self image, acute and post traumatic stress disorders, sleeping difficulties, insomnia, stop smoking program, weight management program, children and adolescent programs and many more.

There is a specific program for each element / group of therapy and they have all been clinically trialled with a lot of success.  I have seen and read the evidence of this, including Bali bombing victims.

Coupled with my practice sessions, I know this will be a further tool towards helping to restore the balance back into our lives and truly enjoy our beautiful journey. This VRT will only enhance the process and in some respects quicker than with just counselling sessions alone.
